NUTS AND BOLTS
The hands, feet, eyes and ears of TMP in each local church is Committee One. We call this group Cm One because they are first in leadership importance. They follow up on every business person with a TMP loan every week. These officers are stewards of their business members as much as of church husbands and wives, children and young adults, the old and the young. They assist borrowers to determine whether to borrow so that they honor God and His Word.
The men shown are part of Cm One of First Presbyterian Church: David (top left), Thomas (top right), Frank, Chmn (lower left), and Richard (lower right). Frank and Richard are experienced TMP loan recipients.
From the beginning we knew that if this service would survive and do well in Africa, it would have to be African run. It struck the Board as unwise to attempt to direct the day-to-day operations of a lending program literally on the other side of the world. So we from the start developed our own leadership experience along with that of our Ugandan brethren. Each recipient church has a directing team of TMP field helpers and leaders, Committee One. They examine applications, rule on qualifications, arrange for training sessions, conduct monthly support meetings of loan recipients, shepherd them as believers in Christ who serve as stewards of the heavenly Father, and inform of TMP rules and regulations. Where they have needs, they call in Committee Two.
